10 things you should know about an Appliance Repair Company

1. Finding access screws for your appliance: Many people who are interested in DIY often find it pretty difficult to find access points or a screw which may be hidden somewhere on the devise. Sometimes people end up taking out each and every screw they can see but the appliance still refuses to budge. When faced with a situation such as this the best thing you can do is to unscrew the mounting screws which should then allow you to take the appliance apart.

2. Opening up a plastic housing: Today quite a few appliances utilize a plastic housing to encase the innards. However, opening molded plastic can be a challenge since it has no screws. The only way to open up these appliances is to closely inspect it for a close seam and then using a pry tool to slowly pry the housing open.

3. You shouldn’t just head over to the cheapest appliance repair company in the area. However, you also do not have to spend a lot of repairs in order to get quality work. Your goal should be to find a company which is both cheap and also has lots of experience.

4. Find out if credit cards are accepted regardless of whether you’ll be paying with plastic. Knowing if a company accepts plastic will help you determine if they are successful. Being able to accept plastic requires that a company go through a rather thorough process of background checks, so only companies with a good record are able to accept credit cards.

5. Ask what training the appliance repair company’s personnel have. A company which has highly trained individuals working as employees will do a good job and will boast openly of it.

6. If you do not know what to ask a company in order to make a decision you can just end up asking them something which sounds sort of ridiculous. For instance you can ask a company what they will charge to fix your Whirlpool dishwasher that has a busted pump complete with parts, fees and labor. Just ask every company the same question until you run into a company which can give you a compelling answer not to mention a good price quote. At American Appliance Specialists, we give Los Angeles dryer repair estimates over the phone!

7. A warranty is very important but something only good appliance repair companies offer. You should ask the company if they back all their repairs by a written warranty and also the validity of the warranty.

8. A company which is bonded has secured funds and if they are insured against things such as a natural disaster, electrical discharge etc., they can effectively cover any damages done to your appliance. You’ll need to ask if they will cover you if something in your home is damaged when the repair is being undertaken.

9. Clean your dishwasher’s sprayer: Many times the most common reason your dishwasher is not working is because the sprayer is clogged. In order to fix this problem you just remove the sprayer and soak it in a warm solution of water and white vinegar for a couple of hours. Finally use a pipe cleaner to clean out every hole of the sprayer.

10. The last piece of advice for everyone is that they shouldn’t leave finding a good appliance repair company for times when things have broken down. It is important that you do your research and find something in advance since you never know when you might be in need of good repairs. Ideally you should look for a company which has experience, good references, and is also located within a mile of your home, so that you can reach them on foot if you really have to, or they can reach you in a few minutes if you gave them a call. 10 DIY Appliance Repair & Maintenance Tips

3. Finding fallen parts: when trying to repair something there are a few small parts which inevitably just fall on to the floor. An easy method which anyone can use to find these parts is to turn off all excess lighting and draw the curtains in order to make sure that the room is dark. Then using a flashlight placed close to the floor you can pick up the shadow of the small part as you swing the flashlight back and forth.

4. Unclogging an appliance?s air vents: Appliances which are powered by either small or large motors could be as simple to maintain as just unblocking the air vents. This works because an obstruction of the vents results in poor air circulation which causes overheating. All you?ve got to do is to insert a small pipe cleaner into the vent in order to break the large pieces of dirt into smaller ones which can then be sucked up by a small vacuum.

5. Check the power supply: When major appliances like water heaters, air conditioners and ovens fail and appear to need major repairs since it has stopped working, one reason for their failure could be their power supply. Simply replacing the power supply in most cases should fix the problem.

6. Ground yourself: static electricity can damage a circuit and also major electronic components which is why it is recommended that you ground yourself properly prior to working on any home appliance.

7. Clean refrigerator coils: Depending on the model of your refrigerator the coils can either be on the back of the kickplate or the appliance. All you have to do is to use a vacuum cleaner to clean up the particles. This type of thing needs to be done every 12 months.

8. Discharge the appliance: Many appliances such as monitors and televisions tend to store electricity. The electricity stored in them can cause personal harm and so opening them without allowing for it to discharge can be dangerous. Just unplug the devise for a few hours or a day prior to working on it.

9. Clean the sprayer of your dishwasher: In most cases if the sprayer is not working chances are that it is clogged. Just remove the sprayer and put it in warm water mixed with white vinegar for a couple of hours in order to get the mineral deposits lose. Then use a pipe cleaner to clean out each hole.

10. First out last in: Putting an appliance with many parts back together again can be difficult. The easiest way to reassemble everything is to remember what you took out last and work your way from there.

Gas Cooktops with Downdraft Your Ultimate Decision in Cooking

Gas cooktops with downdraft are a great way of getting rid of unwanted cooking smells and steam for apartments and small kitchens, plus they can also be used in larger kitchens to save on space because you don’t have to install an extractor fan. Unlike other cooktops, gas cooktops with downdraft contain an integrated exhaust system that removes smoke and steam from the kitchen. This has several advantages over traditional cooktops and is a good way to eliminate kitchen smells and moisture in the air without needing an extractor fan.

This is a great option if you are living in a small apartment or have a small kitchen. You can easily cook, grill and fry any type of food you like and you won’t have to worry about the smell of the food going all over the place in your apartment. Usually this is sometimes a real annoyance as the smells from whatever you are frying may go into the curtains, your clothes and also your hair. At the same time the grease and steam released while cooking can stain and damage your kitchen units and walls. Having cooktop with the downdraft system can help you to avert all of the issues that are often linked to cooking in a small kitchen.

So, how do they work? They work by extracting the odors, smoke and steam downwards hence the name downdraft. While cooking the smoke will rise up, then a special downdraft element effectively sucks it down, it is then pushed into a tube that is included in the system, and the smoke and steam are expelled from the tube through a vent to the outside of your house. So as opposed to the traditional cooktop it is not necessary for an extraction fan, which also makes it a more compact and hassle-free method. Since the vents are closer to the cooking area they have better suction and will eliminate the smoke before it rises, this also makes cooking much easier since it keeps the smoke and steam out of your face when cooking.

A downdraft method is not just great if you have a small space to cook in and have limited space for a full size cooker with extractor it is also a much cheaper option, which means you can still have an efficient cooking system even if you are on a low budget.

There are a lot of models available today because they are increasing in popularity plus they can be found in a multitude of designs such as attractive silver and sleek black. Because of the great range of designs it makes choosing one to match your over-all kitchen theme much easier since they are exactly the same size and look similar to regular cooktops.

Gas Cooktops with Downdraft will enhance your love of cooking. It eliminates pesky odors with the use of a downdraft system. To find the best products and information on gas cooktops with downdraft click on the links provided.

A Double Convection Oven Bakes Better

I want you to think back to some of your fondest memories. Did these times involve many loved ones gathered around some good home cooked meals? Chances are that this is the case. But who want’s to be the one spending countless hours in the kitchen getting things ready? A double convection oven can not only help you to save time, but to produce higher quality baked goods as well. Get out of the kitchen faster and get social with a double oven.

Just how do double convection ovens save time? They accomplish this with superior design that really sets them apart from other ovens. In order to understand them better, let’s examine how they work.

Traditional ovens simply radiate heat from the heating elements in the bottom or top portion of the oven. This type of cooking leads to spots in the oven where the temperature is either cooler or hotter than the desired settings. This is because the heat can be “blocked” by items such as cookie sheets, then “settles” at the top of the oven as it rises.

A convection oven will circulate the hot air through the oven using a fan that is placed near the heating elements. This eliminates these hot and cool spots.

This leads to cooking that is both faster and more even. If you are new to convection cooking, it is a good idea to experiment with your recipes at lower temperatures and reduced cooking times. Otherwise, you could end up with overly cooked food.

Save time in the kitchen next time around. Use a convection double oven and go have some fun with the time you save.

One of the best manufacturers of convection double ovens is Bosch. I highly recommend you check out what they have to offer.

This is probably your motivation to work harder in order to provide them a comfortable life and at the same time provide them with a health insurance that will make sure that their health care needs are met. You are putting yourself at risk the moment you wake up and step outside of your house. The same concept can be applied when you are cooking meals. Each cut and slice puts you at risk for injuring yourself. Each time you make use of the stove there is a risk that it might blow up. Each time you make use of your under counter microwave, there is once again a risk for it to blow up.

If you do not know what you are doing or how to use these appliances properly, you are actually putting everyone in your family including yourself and your property at risk. This is the reason why you need to know how to use an appliance before you even attempt to use it. Usually, most electronic appliances have user’s manuals, which often contain the precautions that you need to take in order to prevent accidents. An under counter microwave is an electronic appliance thus it should come with a user’s manual.

In case you decide to purchase and install an under counter microwave, do not forget to read and understand the user’s manual first. It is important that you pay more attention to the precautions. When you are using a microwave, it is important that you use the appropriate utensils. Remember that not all kitchen utensils can be used for microwave cooking. You can cause your microwave to short circuit and start a fire if you fail to use the proper set of kitchen utensils when cooking using the microwave. Therefore, it is important that you use only the right kind of kitchen utensils like those labelled with microwave safe or microwave friendly.

In line with safety, you must make sure that your under counter microwave is installed properly beneath the counter top. Reduce the risk for injury by making sure that your microwave oven is installed properly considering that this appliance is rather heavy. Moreover, make sure that everybody gets to read the user’s manual. This is one sure way to keep your family members aware of the risks and safety features of this particular appliance.

Do not forget to remind your family members to keep their hands off the microwave surface since this a hot surface. If they do not keep their hands off the hot surface, they will surely burn themselves. It is not easy to keep on reminding them but it is one way to ensure their safety.

Your under counter microwave oven can come in handy when you start your food business, which is why it is important that you take good care of it. Kitchen Appliances Tips

Kitchen appliances definitely make our lives more productive. In not so far off times, troops of women would spend a majority of their day preparing meals for their brood. Kitchen appliances free up much needed time for other types of activities beyond preparing and cooking food.

Kitchen appliances are a matter of personal taste. Some people can live without a dishwasher or the convenience of a food processor. Others on the other hand, would struggle without a microwave. Here are a few offered suggestions that might help you pick the appliances that are best for you.

Ovens are a good place to start. I prefer the double-decker for cooking large meals. The convenience of being able to cook several oven items at a time at two different temps definitely appeals to me. While this might not suite someone who doesn’t have a large family or entertain many guests, for those of use who do this is a big help. If you decided to go with this unique and handy oven configuration, you have to realize that a separate stove range will be needed. This is kind of nice in a way though because you will gain some under counter space.

The dishwasher is definitely one of the kitchen appliance all-stars. The time saved on clean up while using a dishwasher in invaluable. Just remember that there are several different models out there and a half dozen or so styles. You have more options than the under the cabinet monsters that seem to come standard these days. There are roll-away models and even a smaller countertop unit for the single person. Which of these you choose depends on your personal choice.

Food processors are also another good time saver. Don’t be afraid to put whatever you like into one of these and add a little adventure to your life. Remember to buy a unit you can easily disassemble and reassemble again. This is just smart and will keep your junk drawer from becoming too full.

A radio or flat screen TV could be considered a kitchen appliance in a way. It really depends on where you mount it. Making a little room for this sort extra entertainment will help you pass the time away while you are cooking, or just having a cup of coffee in the kitchen. For the news and entertainment junkie, these are kitchen necessity.

Make sure whatever you buy is easy to clean. This is a sanitation and safety issue. Often if something is hard to put back together because of all the parts involved, the tendency is to simply clean it and put the parts someplace out of the way. This is a waste of time and space. Make sure that what you buy is able to be cleaned up properly.

Remember to think about your own lifestyle. Buying stuff you will only use once or twice will only result in accumulating more junk around the house. Be smart with your future purchases. Things like crock pots and dehydrators can be your best friends, or just something taking up space under the counter. Make sure your smaller appliances are things you will use on a regular basis. Good luck with all your appliances and may all of your kitchen appliance dreams come true.

You Family Needs The KitchenAid Toaster Oven

One of the most used appliances in the kitchen is the toaster oven. You can reheat leftovers in it or cook an entire meal. You do not have to heat up the kitchen by using the stove, and this saves you electricity. I am going to show you the convenience of the KitchenAid toaster oven. You can cook any food you want in this little toaster oven, and use it for toast.

This toaster oven comes in two different models. The first is a counter top model number KCO1005OB it is a half a cubic foot large and has the capability to toast six slices of bread. It comes in an onyx black, which is gorgeous in any kitchen. It is made out of stainless steel and has a tempered glass door, and a nonstick coating to make cleaning a breeze.

The second model toaster oven number KCO1005ER is also a counter top appliance, this particular model is available in red. It is the same half cubic foot capacity. It bakes and broils and has a warming feature and a power on indicator light. This unit is made for easy cleaning with a swipe of a sponge. As with the large oven you will need to preheat this toaster oven as well.

For those of us who have smaller kitchens and very little counter top space, I suggest purchasing the under cabinet toaster oven. These are easily installed under a cabinet of your choice, and that will free up precious space on your counter tops. This is really convenient for the cook in the house, it is up out of your way, yet you can reach it easily when you are cooking.

The KitchenAid toaster oven is made in the USA and each model is covered with a one year warranty. There is a difference in the cost of each toaster oven. You can find these in major department stores, or appliance stores. These are available locally and can be found on the internet. You can compare prices in your stores and on the internet and then decide where to buy it.

If you are a family on the go, and just have no time to cook a large meal, then go ahead and use your toaster oven. You can bake or heat up foods in a hurry. You can place a couple of small dishes inside this oven at a time to heat. If each family member wants something different they can heat what they want to eat, and it only takes a short amount of time.

This is also a green product as it saves electricity. Using the toaster oven saves you from turning on your large oven, which you have to preheat, which uses extra electricity. You do not have this issue with a toaster oven, no preheating is needed, simply turn your toaster oven on and place your food dish inside, no more preheating wait time for you. You not only save your self time but you help save the environment by using less energy.

At this point I have given you a few different toaster ovens to check out for yourself. You must decide if could benefit from an under the counter oven or a counter top model. As with other small appliances you have your choice of color, which you can match to your kitchen area. I suggest going to the department store and looking at them in person, then you can get a better feel of how big they are and what they look like.

Find all you need to know about the KitchenAid toaster oven by going online. One of the best items to own, making cooking easy. Head to http://kitchenaidtoasteroven.com today!

Ranges: 6 Things You Should Know Before You Buy

1: IT’S ABOUT STYLE

Ranges have become the status symbol of the kitchen and many treat them like a stage for performing. There are free-standing or slide-in models, or built-in. It is a smart move to select the same type of replacement range to avoid renovations. Larger professional type ranges add glamour as well as heat, but they need better ventilation and may need fireboards next to the adjoining cabinets.

2: COLOR IS STYLE

Most ranges come in white, black, metallic finish and stainless steel. Custom colors are available on many of the upscale models. If the dishwasher and refrigerator do not have custom covers then the stove should match them. Don’t assume the metal is really stainless steel, ask.

3: THE FUEL QUESTION

Electric and gas are both reliable and offer consistent heat. Gas allows you to select different levels of heat and when the burner is off, cooking stops. If you currently have electric and decide to switch to gas, you will need a gas hookup as well as 120 volt circuit for clocks and electronic ignition. Electric heat gives you very low heat, which is not always possible with gas, but it heats up and cools down slowly.

4: PERFORMANCE

There are several choices and feature options. Decide which are most important to you and then ask which will best suit your needs. Don’t waste money on options that you won’t ever use, i.e. melting chocolate on low heat for eight hours. It’s great marketing, but very few of us actually do it. Make sure to ask about even baking and custom broiling options. You may want to check out convection baking for superior baking results, low simmer and high heat options on cooktop.

5: LOW MAINTENANCE CLEANING

If you hate to clean the oven, select self-clean options. Continuous clean never really gets the oven immaculate. Smooth glass or ceramic cooktops need specific cleaners and care to maintain their good looks. Burners on professional ranges require more care, especially with drips pans.

6: MAKING SURE IT FITS

The bottom line is that is has to fit in the space you have allocated. Professional models measure between 36 and 60 inches. Freestanding ranges are generally 30 inches wide, but can vary from 24 - 48 inches.
