Microwave Oven Accessories Improve Cooking
Microwaves were accidentally discovered in the 1940s in the United States by engineer Percy Spencer. Raytheon, the company he worked for, patented the first unit in 1945. The first food cooked was popcorn. These units are most popular in the United States, Britain, and Ireland. They are not as popular in Europe but can be found in Italy and Poland. These mini-ovens were originally used to warm leftovers, boil water for hot beverages, defrost meat or frozen meals, and make popcorn. Modern microwave oven accessories enhance cooking performance and provide a wider variety of foods that can be cooked in these time-saving units.
Splatters and spills are eliminated by plate or splatter covers. The inside of the unit stays clean, and heat and moisture is contained closer to the plate for enhanced cooking. Turntables operated on tiny wheels distribute heat evenly. If the turntable breaks or the unit does not have one, go-arounds can be used instead. These are battery operated and rotate when food is placed on the surface.
Beverages and Side Dishes Are Quickly Created- Boiling water has now evolved to using a microwave kettle. This little look-alike glass measuring cup even whistles when water is ready. Sun tea can now be brewed quickly and deliciously. This container can also be used in the traditional outdoor method.
All ages love popcorn made by popcorn makers or poppers. The old-fashioned method uses a pan with oil on the stove. These poppers don’t use oil and can even be used in a traditional oven or on the stove. Baked potato side dishes are easily created using potato bakers.
This helper cooks potatoes in a recessed tray or on vertical prongs. Rice is steamed in rice cookers or steamers without clumping. Cakes once made in the usual oven are now microwaved in silicone cake pans. This utensil is pliant, nonstick, cools extremely quick, and can also be used in larger-sized ovens. Sandwich makers easily and quickly create grilled sandwiches.
Perfect Eggs and Bacon Every Time- Breakfast foods such as eggs, bacon, and sausage can now be cooked. Some egg cookers create fantastic omelets, and others can boil up to four eggs. Breakfast makers cook eggs on one side and sausage or bacon on the other side. A meat cooker consists of a round plate with raised grooves to separate the bacon or sausage from the grease.
The other side is used to bake and defrost. Other bacon makers hang the bacon or slot the bacon for even cooking. Browning meat is even faster using a tender cooker. This item will even roast meat quickly and effectively.
Foil and metal cannot be placed in this appliance like in traditional ovens since the intense heat can cause fires. Plastic wrap is acceptable as long as it does not come in contact with the food in the baking container. Not all bake ware made from glass and plastic is safe to use. Some will melt or crack in these units. Check the underside of the cookware if unsure. The variety of microwave oven accessories increases every year along with the needs of consumers. These items make it easy for even children to fend for themselves at meal times.

Microwave Ovens, Buying Your Best Choice
It was back in the year’46 and running some experiments on radar and related studies, Dr. Percy Spencer would make a discovery. While using the vacuum tube magnetron he noticed that a candy bar that was in his pocket melted. That made him curious so he placed some popcorn kernels near the tube to watch in amazement as they would begin to pop.
The next morning he and an assistant would try placing an egg next to the tube. As they closely watched the egg started to shake and tremor. The assistant trying to get a better look moved in closer only to have the egg explode all over him. It was then that they knew they had something great!
Dr. Spencer would then make a metal box that he would place around the tube. This was when he noticed how much more energy would be inside the box. These steps are what would become what is well over a multimillion dollar idea. The first microwave oven that came out was an amazing 5 and a half feet tall and weighed more than 750 pounds. The cost of that first microwave was $5000!
It was shortly after that the first commercial microwave would be produced. It would be an amazing 750 pounds and stand at five and a half feet tall. The cost of this item would be $5, 000. It was something that many people even larger businesses weren’t too thrilled about spending money on. Plus the fact that you would need a plumbing hook up to help keep that internal tube cooled didn’t help out much.
While the first home microwave, named the radarange would come out during the same year. It wasn’t near as big, but the cost was close enough. Coming in at $2, 000 to $3, 000 if you wanted to buy one of these new items. Of course it was new and many people would buy them. Thankfully during the years prices and sizes of those microwaves have gone down a lot.
If you head out to look for a microwave oven now a days you will find small appliances that are used by most people. It’s a lot easier to purchase a microwave for a college student. Plus many families will actually use the microwave ovens quite often too.
Finally, the prices that you look at need to be compared, but also look at warranties that you will get for your microwave ovens. Don. ‘t buy something used, unless you can test it and make sure it works. You may request a warranty to see if they will give you one when buying used too.

Microwave Ovens: How To Pick The Best One Suitable To Your Needs!
From seasoned cooks to novices, from the lazy who eat only to survive to the connoisseurs of good food, everybody needs the relatively new, but most well taken microwave. So which kind are you and for what purpose do you need the microwave oven? On par with all electronic gadgets, microwave ovens have stormed the markets in different makes and varieties with a plethora of options and functionalities. That is exactly why picking microwave ovens while still be able to fit in a budget could be a problem, if you do not have prior knowledge about them.
So which one of the several models of microwave ovens would you buy if you were going shopping today? A basic knowledge of the available models and their functions will help you choose wisely. Many people buy microwave ovens with several functions just to make sure they have the necessary functions, as they do not necessarily know what does what. This kind of buying will only burn a hole in your pocket and you still are in the danger of dissatisfaction.
With respect to placement and portability, microwave ovens come in two broad categories. The more common ones being the counter-top ovens that can be placed anywhere depending on their size and power needs. However, the kitchen ovens or the in-built microwaves are fitted into your kitchen cabinet for handy use and space conservation. So first thing you need to decide before you, go scouting for microwave ovens is which kind do you need. The answer, you will find, is in your kitchen. Can you make room in your cabinets for a microwave oven? Alternatively, do you prefer your oven to be more portable because you tend to shift positions too many times?
A standard microwave cooks the food using variable wattage to change the heat intensity. The range of foods that can be cooked in a cheaper microwave is not very large and might not be the perfect choice for you, if you regularly cook cordon bleu meals. You might then go for a larger, expensive model with more settings and features available and are conducive to cooking a variety of foods effectively. A large electric microwave can typically cook larger quantities of food faster as it cooks the food at higher temperatures.
Another option notable in the larger microwaves is the grill option or the ?browning element? that is actually more effective than normal grill. The browning element is effective in creating the yummy crust and color that may people prefer in their food preparations. When you cook meals in a regular microwave, you might have to mix or reverse the food occasionally when preparing large quantities of food. Therefore, unless you never plan to entertain guests, you might want a microwave with a feature called rotisserie that allows even large proportions of meat to be cooked thoroughly.
What looks like the perfect microwave to meet all your needs in the store might not be the one for you after you come home. The best way to ensure that the microwave is suitable is to carry a plate along to the store to check the space availability as it can be misleading sometimes.
Now you might be amazed at the description of microwave ovens at the store, the innumerous functionalities described skillfully by the sales assistant. However, most people never tend to use many functions. Therefore, unless you are a major foodie, you might want to reconsider that extra expenditure on extra features. So choose well, choose wisely.
