How To Install A Washer Dryer
If you are looking to moving home, whether an apartment or house, one of the first appliances you will find yourself needing is the washer dryer combo machine. These are easy to find in most department stores but are even easier to install yourself.
A common mistake when buying a new washer dryer is to fall into the trap of buying the first one you see. Do some research beforehand, particularly online. Many people end up buying a machine that has more functions than they actually need and pay richly for it. Buying a refurbished model is a great way to get a good machine and save money. Most engineers will supply a warranty with your refurbished machine for peace of mind.
Once you have purchased and had your machine delivered you will have to install it. The machine needs to be positioned where there are two water hose connections and a drainage outlet. The most common place to find these is in the kitchen and laundry room. The next step is to connect the hoses. The first is the hot water supply. Locate the hose marked in red or with a red connector and join to the hose on the machine with the same red marking.
The next step is to find the hose with the blue marking and connect it to the appliance hose with the similar blue marking. This will connect the cold water supply. It is essential not to mix these up, otherwise you may end up with colors running sue to the incorrect temperatures.
The water has to drain out somewhere, so now we need to connect up the drain hose. Simply find the hose with no connector on the end. Place this particular hose into the drainage hole in the wall which is usually near the other two hose connections. This will allow all the water to drain away into the drainage system. The next step is a little tricky and that is to balance it. Most machines have a self balancing mechanism. To set it pull the washer towards you at about thirty degrees and then let it go. When it hits the floor it will adjust itself. Make sure you read the instructions beforehand to check.
Now we need to look at the drying aspect of the machine. You will find a hole in the floor which is around three to five inches in diameter. This is the dryer vent outlet which directs the hot air and steam away from the machine. From a general hardware store you will need to buy an appropriate connector to connect the machine to this vent. Next is to simply plug in the dryer power cord and you are all set.
Overall, buying a washer dryer machine is not too difficult especially if you can get a good deal on a refurbished model. Installing them only takes a few minutes and is something you can easily do yourself.

Factors To Consider When Buying a New Drying Machine
When many people move into a new house, this is the time that they consider buying a new drying machine to install, often for the very first time. The choice most people have to make is whether to buy a combination washer dryer machine or go for a separate dedicated drying unit. It is important to do your research first in order to get something that suits your needs to the full.
Normally the capacity of a separate machine is much bigger than that of a washer dryer combo. Most separate appliances have a capacity of around 5 to 7 cubic feet which is bigger than that of a combo machine which comes in at around 3 cubic feet. The compact machines are useful though in small cottages or apartments where there is a shortage of space.
Many drying machines you find are powered by electricity, but it is possible to find appliances that are actually powered by gas which can work out very cost effective in the long run.
It can be very daunting and off putting when entering a department store or showroom for the first time to look at machines. The choice of manufacturers such as Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore and GE can be very overwhelming. Therefore, a useful thing to do is an online search for the different makes on a large site such as Amazon. These will list all the different and many features, sizes and extra bonuses that come with the appliance. When going to a store it is vital to measure the space where the dryer is going to go into.
If you have a lot of washing or have a large family then it is worthwhile considering one of the larger, full size machines which are usually about 28 inches wide. If the amount of space you have to install a machine is quite small, then a mini dryer or mini washer dryer might fit the space nicely.
One of the decisions you will have to make when purchasing a machine is whether to go for a vented or non vented model. With a non vented or ventless model the hot, damp air is removed from the clothes and passed through a condenser. This produces water which collects in the machine and has to be emptied regularly. Conversely, a vented model passes this air through a pipe and out into the open air. You will, therefore, need access through a window or wall for one of these types.
The vented machines tend to be cheaper than the ventless models, which require regular emptying, although they do require a way of connecting to the outside which may be a problem in some residences. A ventless model can be placed anywhere in the house so doesn’t need to be near a window or outside wall which is good for a basement laundry.
When making a choice there are basically two decisions to make: whether to go for a single dryer unit or go for the combo appliance; and whether to buy a vented or ventless model. One last point of note is that both machines will achieve the same outcome of dry clean clothes but you will find the washer dryer combo will take a little longer to do it.
