You might have to get wood which is better because wood will last longer than other materials if you get wood that is of good quality. Sometimes when you do home remodeling you will have to replace joists to handle heavier appliances or to support a kitchen island if you decide you want to build one. If you are doing the work by yourself and you do not know how to do it then this process will be pretty slow. If you are using someone who is experienced in plumbing and electrical then you will not be able to learn from them either because they know what they are doing and can do it very fast. You might not have to cover the holes at all if you are going to build something over top of them. Either way it is up to you, if you choose not to cover them remember that cold air can come through them in the winter resulting in higher heating bills.

Depending on what you are remodeling you can usually rebuilt anything that you want done or you can buy it, this is your choice. If you choose to build it then it could be cheaper but also more time consuming. This is something you need to consider and decide on before you do it or decide on it.
