Waffle Irons Have Come a long Way Over Time

A really popular food that many people around the world enjoy eating for breakfast is waffles. Many people even love to have them for dessert as they are so decadent when covered in goodies. In order to make these all you need are two hot plates and some simple to prepare batter. These plates get the name of waffle plates because of the grid design that is built into them giving the waffles their unique identity. This waffle pattern is so great because it allows all of your syrup and butter or other condiments to soak into the waffle and give it all kinds of yummy flavor. Even deeper holes can be had with the use of a Belgian waffle maker.

Somewhere in the Middle Ages is when the first waffles were made and enjoyed. Wood stoves were used to heat up the earliest waffle makers, and they were simply made up of two metal plates with a hinge. Lots of people provided for their families by peddling these waffles on the streets and still do to this day some countries. With those early waffle irons it was kind of difficult to learn as you needed the knowledge to know exactly how hot to get it and when to take them off.

Enough of the nostalgia though, as most of those old-style waffle makers have been replaced by the newfangled waffle makers. Some of the benefits of them are the fact that they are so incredibly easy to use for anybody to make a perfect waffle. With all of the sensors and bells and whistles on the new models they tell you when to put the batter on and when the waffle is done cooking. Most of the waffle makers on the market these days are fairly inexpensive making them affordable for nearly everybody, and the fact that they have removable plates makes them easy to clean.

The Belgian waffle maker is quite popular among waffle aficionados. These waffle makers are incredibly easy to use. A Belgian waffle makes a smaller waffle then one of your standard sized waffle makers, but they are also quite a bit thicker with larger holes for the goodies. Whether you like your waffles to have any savory flavor with herbs or whether you like them to be sticky and sweet is your choice as the options are pretty limitless. These are very versatile and allow you to make them how you wish.

You can even find some waffle makers that allow you to flip the plates over and use them to grill things like Panini sandwiches or other goodies. These multipurpose machines are perfect for anybody who likes a kitchen appliance with more than one use.

If you enjoy eating waffles as much as I do and are in the market to buy a new Belgian waffle maker, then you can read some good non biased on different makes by visiting http://belgianwafflemakers.org.
