Savor the Taste of Fresh Brewed Coffee
Do you drink brewed coffee? I don’t but sniffing its aroma in the morning is what I fancy. Perhaps I was used to it when I was growing up. It was such a sweet memory. The smell of the brewed coffee in the morning was a sign that my mom was already preparing an enticing breakfast for us. It was the same when we were at our grandmother’s house. A cup of brewed coffee and a slice of apple pie, that was what my grandmother served every time visitors came by the house and it was often.
People have been enjoying the benefits of coffee for over fifteen hundred years.Originating from the Kaffa, Buno, and Ethiopia areas, the main center of production was the port city of Mocha, Yemen, where it was served to Italian merchants and then spread to Europe in the 1600’s.Little did the Turks know that they were serving what would become one of the most popular drinks in history. In 1668, brewed coffee spread across North America particularly in the towns of Boston, New York and Philadelphia.According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Americans drink on the average of more than eight ounces of coffee a day.
You will be amazed with what you can get out of drinking coffee. Coffee contains high levels of anti-oxidants, a substance that slows down the oxidation of body cells and eliminates free radicals. Reports of the study published in the Harvard Health Publication confirmed that drinking a modest amount of coffee can minimize the probability of having diseases in the kidney, colon, liver and nervous system. Endurance in physical activities is increased and alertness of the mind is enhanced.
Coffee is an energizer drink, therefore it is recommended to drink it in reasonable amounts. Drinking too much coffee or anything at all, is more harmful than beneficial to your body, therefore control your drinking to only 2 cups a day, may be less but not over 2 cups. Too much coffee intake can create feelings of fear, worry, dread and can lead to panic, and in others, the increase possibility of having a heart attack. If you find that you are jittery or nervous after drinking coffee, cut back.
Satisfy yourself with a nice cup of brewed coffee with your own grind of excellent garden fresh coffee beans. Once the beans are crushed, all the essential oils that gives that tangy flavor is removed. Nothing compares to the taste of brewed coffee out of newly ground fresh beans. You need to have a coffee grinder if you want to have a taste of a freshly brewed coffee. Here’s an additional tip about coffee grinders from my experience. I own a coffee grinder but instead of coffee beans, I ground nuts and seeds for making food coatings.I grind almonds, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, mix them together with paprika, herbs, a little salt and pepper. This makes a grand coating for salmon cakes or chicken and fish. I then put it on the frying pan. When it’s done, I dish it up with mayonnaise, lemon, garlic and horseradish sauce. Mouthwatering! Sometimes I like my herbal spices to be thinly cut, so I grind it on my coffee grinder. Have you ever thought of using the coffee grinder for something else? If so, then buy two units, one for the coffee beans and the other for the nuts, seeds and herbs.Purchase high quality beans, of course choosing the type of bean for a particular flavor is up to you.If your water is poor quality, use filtered or spring water to make your coffee taste even better. Also consider organic coffee and experiment with different flavor beans to find your favorite. Our parents used to let us have a small amount of coffee when we were kids. They called it coffee milk and it consisted of coffee, pure cream - more cream than coffee and sugar. That was a real treat.
