In A Healthy Kitchen - American Brands Are Best
This is a very bold statement for somebody to make, especially when you think about areas of American manufacturing today. For one you only have to look at the US automotive industry to see how much manufacturing has declined in this country. Yet for those who lead a raw food lifestyle or are concerned about their health and nutrition then some of the best made kitchen equipment in the world is made in America.
Both raw foodists and health enthusiasts expect considerably more from their kitchen gadgets than you or I would. The juicer they have in many cases will often be used as a kettle. Whilst the blender they have not only will be used a lot more regularly but will be required to complete very demanding blending tasks as well.
Whilst a food dryer or dehydrator is often used more than the oven in the kitchen is, it preserves nutrients using low temperatures so providing the person with a wide array of nutritious things to eat. For anyone who is considering purchasing some equipment in order to make these kinds of changes in their lifestyle then there are a number of things that need to be considered when selecting the appropriate kitchen equipment.
Of course value for money is important when it comes to buying new equipment for the kitchen. Yes you will pay more for American branded dehydrators, juicers and blenders, but the returns they give to you in the long term outweigh these costs, especially when required for a use in a healthy kitchen. Not only do we require equipment to last but we won’t to know that it is capable of dealing with certain demanding tasks and the American equipment that is focused on being used in a healthy kitchen are more than able to do this.
Don’t expect the juicer you have at home currently to be able to grind nuts into butter or to produce a sorbet from frozen fruit in an instant. But if you were to purchase the Californian Champion Juicer then it would have no problems getting these tasks completed for you. However, these machines don’t come cheap, but when you take into consideration what it is capable of and that this machine is bomb-proof and likely to last a lifetime the price you pay is very reasonable indeed.
As for the blenders you can purchase locally you wouldn’t expect these to grind dried chick peas into flour in less than 30 seconds or make vegetables and other fibrous raw greens into a smooth raw soup. If you did, then you are likely to find your blender won’t be working within a week, unlike say the American VitaMix or Blendtec versions.
If like other raw fooders you fail to understand the importance of good strong equipment then you will find you’ve wasted money on a normal domestic blender instead of the American blenders we mention that really do offer value for money over the long term. When it comes to versatility and variety then a food dehydrator is worth considering to create some great dried recipes and snacks. There are various kinds available but the Excalibur Dehydrator manufactured in California is the best of the lot and has a much larger area for holding a wide array of foods.
As for the Champion Juicer which in its brand logo declares it is the “The World’s Finest Juicer” I would have to agree with this statement. The first Champion Juicer I brought has now been given to my son because I decided to replace it with a new black coloured model following the range of colours in the USA being made available in the UK. The juicer my son now has is almost 20 years old, but although it doesn’t look as pristine when I first got it, it still works well.
There are other juicers available, but not many that you can say have been used regularly for more than 20 years and still work like they have just come out of the box. Plus this one hasn’t been used solely for juicing, it has been regularly used to create healthy fruit ice cream by having frozen bananas and raspberries rammed through it with some considerable force. Over a period of more than 50 years there have been over a million of these juicers sold worldwide. But more would have been sold if like the today’s brand managers the producers of this juicer had remembered to use “built in obsolescence” when marketing it. Today the Champion Juicer which comes in four different colours is available in the UK through UK Juicers Limited visit them at www.ukjuicers.com.
Another blender that is worth considering is the Blendtec Total which first made an appearance in the UK on the “Friday Night With Jonathan Ross” show. During a demonstration of the machines capabilities a mobile phone was placed inside and blended without any problems. But it isn’t just shows like these that prove how powerful this blender is the manufacturers of it also have videos on their website showing its capabilities and it is seen blending items such as lava lamps and baseballs. Of course one may feel that these are overstating how effective this blender is but it provides the buyer with assurances that it won’t be bothered by the kinds of tasks that raw fooders will want theirs to complete, compared the domestic blenders that we can readily purchase.
Dehydrating allows you to create a range of healthy foods with gentle heat such as fruits, fruit leathers, energy bars, crackers, vegetables meals and complete meals that an outdoor enthusiast can carry with them. Not only does this equipment help to keep more of the foods nutrients within them but it enables you to store them for much longer. Aficionados of these dehydrators soon learn that the best ones are those that offer horizontal air flow drying like that found in a fan oven, instead of the stacking tray kinds. These ones dry out the food less evenly and to ensure that everything does get dried out evenly during the drying process you will need to move the trays up and down.
Since the creation of the Excalibur Dehydrator in Sacramento, California more than 30 years ago this piece of equipment has earned a reputation of being extremely reliable. It originates from a part of the US where plenty of seasonal produce is available where many households still like to prepare and store foods using very traditional methods. When it comes to getting the Excalibur Dehydrator and other types of American machines mentioned above then these are being imported by the health enthusiasts at UK Juicers today.
You may find it difficult to understand why as a Brit I am recommending that health enthusiasts look abroad to purchase reliable kitchen appliances rather than here. But if performance and long term value are vital to you then, just as they are for other health enthusiasts then these American brands should be your only choice as they will certainly deliver what is required of them.
As one can see there are a number of American brands which are no doubt some of the best on the market, one in particular is the range of champion juicers which are available from a few suppliers in the UK such as UK Juicers.
