How To Cut Down On Kitchen Appliances
Some kitchens will be full of objects all over the worktops but it can be difficult to prepare and cook your food. Some of the kitchen appliances that are bought are generally needed but some will do the job that others will already do. You are wasting a lot of money on these extra appliances and you can have extra space on your work tops.
The first is a blender and it is generally needed when it comes to purifying different foods. Blenders can help with soups, deserts and for drinks. In fact, if you have a blender, you can usually do without the use of a smoothie maker or a food processor because it can do a number of the same jobs. This can cut down on the amount of pieces of equipment on your counter top.
Of course, to really save space, you have to option of a hand held blender. However, these are not considered as good when it comes to liquidizing the food but they are still perfect for fruit and soft vegetables - although you do need to be careful not to melt the plastic. You can also store these in the cupboards very easily between uses.
The next appliance that you can look at is your fridge and freezer. If you are limited to space, you can also buy two separate pieces of equipment and have the freezer in the garage rather than the kitchen. That way, you can actually buy a larger freezer to be able to store a lot more into it. You fridge can be a small one that sits underneath work tops and can create more space for you to do your food preparation.
Dryers are not a necessity in the home, in fact, neither are washing machines. If you can, it could save you a lot of money to opt for a Laundromat to do all of your laundry. However, if you would prefer to have one in your own home then you should consider buying a rack to dry your clothes on or opting for airing them in the warm outdoor air rather than spending money and wasting space with a tumble dryer.
You should also consider whether you really need a microwave. They are a great idea if you need to make quick meals but generally, most people use them for reheating purposes or quickly cooking food because they cannot be bothered waiting for the oven to do it. It may take longer but food done in the oven tastes a lot better than when done in the microwave. All this item does is waste space that you could use for food preparation.
Another piece of equipment that can be done another way is the dishwasher. The cheapest dishwasher is doing it yourself in the sink. This can also help you if you have bad circulation or suffer from joint pain because of the warm water. It may take longer but you will have more cupboard space underneath counters while also saving a lot of money. Dishwashers are like dryers, they use a lot of electricity.
There are, of course some kitchen appliances that are needed, such as the kettle, toaster and oven. You will never get away from having them unless you plan on living off takeaways for the rest to your life - which will not be healthy for your body or your piggy bank.
